Default Time investment of funding luck & treasure titles?

I'm on the verge of being done & dusted with titles, just short of GWAMM, but I cannot quite give up until I know the luck, treasure hunter & wisdom titles are really outside my grasp.

Obviously I've done my wiki research, and the 1000s of platinum associated with these titles sound completely beyond my playstyle - I've never even had a full vault bank, though over these 5 years I must have spent 1000s in total to have a full set of armors, Destroyer weapons, guild hall services etc.

But then of course I visit these forums, and cannot pass a thread with any mention of titles without encountering folks who've GWAMMed 10 characters - in 15 minutes, facerolling the keyboard, while asleep, without their computer plugged in.

So - to those in the know - I ask how much of a time investment is it to accumulate the unspeakable wealth required to buy these titles?
Need inspiration, or a dose of harsh reality to kill off GWAMM-fever.

P.S. Anyone who has maxed the Kurzick/Luxon tracks solo - was it tolerable? 9.4m Points of vanquishes solo sounds mind-shredding.

P.P.S. In case anyone has an amazing memory, me & my brother did eventually succeed at duoing Urgoz's Warren - thanks for the tips/pep talks!
Got our monuments on Monday, and we're feeling pretty confident of beating The Deep some weekend soon.

- - - - -

I just realized I should have pre-empted the obvious advice to look at other titles!

Have:
* Protector x 3
* Guardian x 4
* Vanquisher x 4
* Cartographer x 4
* Skill Hunter x 4
* Affiliation x 6 (the Nightfall & EotN ones)
* Life of the Party

Will have:
* LMotNorth (in progress with my brother)
* CoConfectionaries (hopefully by end of Wintersday 2010)

Cannot get (due to age):
* Defender of Ascalon
* Survivor

I'm just not a PvPer (not even rank 1 in any tracks after 5 years), so I'm not considering those tracks.
While it may sound silly, for RL and RP reasons I have not a single alcohol point for this character - even if I did have a change of heart, 0 > 10k would require astronomical wealth and time.
I'm not terribly good at (or enthusiastic about) the gamer stuff, but I very much doubt there'll be enough hours of availablity to max that track anyway before GW2.

So realistically; I'm going to come up 2 titles short - unless more are added (reopened in the case of DoA and Survivor) - if I cannot find a way to work any of the 6 I've asked about.

For Lux and Kurz, it's probably quickest to get faction by vanquishing and then donating the faction to your guild/alliance or getting the Lux/Kurz pve skills. That way, you 'only' need to get 5 million faction instead of the full 10 million.

For lucky/unlucky, the cheapest way is by playing 9 rings when the boardwalk is open. It takes a while though, but it's a lot cheaper than using lockpicks. Using lockpicks on low-level chests will be relatively cheap, but you'll get no virtually no money back from selling what the chest drops for you.

For TH, you can make a good start by farming eggs on the easter weekend (each egg is 1 point if you pick it up). When your lucky rank is high enough from 9 rings, you can start using lockpicks on chests which usually need 600g keys. The chest run outside Boreal Station is a good place to start.

For wisdom....you'll just need the cold hard in-game cash for buying un-id's. Maybe use the money from all the vanquishing and selling mods from the chest runs.

don't know if this is actually a good idea for you but you could buy a couple lockpicks and run around shing jae island opening those chests since you will have a high retention rate on those chests so your picks will hardly ever break. each retained lockpick gives 250 points

wisdom title: if you are up to it you could farm vaettir in jaga moraine. i know it sounds boring but for me they seem to drop a decent amount of golds that you can salvage mods off of for sale and keep going. an added bonus of the vaettir is to do it during events so you get those items for selling as well.... obviously you could also farm raptors or whatever floats your boat

kurzick/luxon titles aren't that bad to max it just takes time same as any other title. i have both maxed but that was a personal goal of mine. i'd say that luxon is easier though

Honestly, your best bet is going for the cash titles. You should've accumulated some wealth throughout playing the game and that wealth should probably go into a title fund of some sort.

If I were you I'd go for single drunkard points while farming goldies. That way you can identify your own golds and all the cash you get can go towards a fund for even more goldies and booze.

You can always try and grind the crap out of a kurzick/luxon area for some cash for goldies or drunkard points.

Your best bet is to combine getting titles.

And about the gamer title, I know people with the title maxed already and I myself am at 85.000 points, but for someone without PvP experience it could be tricky anyways.

Good luck!

If you learn the trading value of weapons and mods, you can make a fair bit of the money back from treasure hunter. Opening chests outside of Boreal Station, even in NM, gives you a chance of finding perfect Forget Me Not inscriptions, spear and scythe mods, defensive shield inscriptions that are in high demand among pvp players, etc. In HM, you get a chance of Elite tomes and a much higher rate of golds (for mods and wisdom title). Other chest running areas can be even more profitable.

I am currently at three titles left on my main as well and make most of my money back from opening chests through trading with other players. That being said, you have to add time spent trading to the time spent chest running, which may be daunting depending on how much playtime you can spare.

Hmm; some good food for thought.

I might try the Shing Jea circuit out for a while (10,000 retains doesn't sound that mind-blowing if my money holds out), or figure out my best Factions vanquish and give it a serious go...

Thanks all.

Remember that the treasure title only effects high end or locked chests, so if you are going to run the island in Factions, make sure it's HM.

I actually had a good time getting Kurzick doing Fort Aspenwood. I don't pvp, but FA can be a lot of fun with the right build. I got a good 7 mil just doing FA.....

It depends on your patience, really.

I maxed Kurzick by getting the VQ title for Cantha and then vanquishing Arborstone once per day until I was done. (With extra runs on double-faction weekends, of course.) It took close to six months, but I did it without driving myself totally crazy since I can tolerate just about anything for only one hour per day. And I piled up a fair bit of cash doing it, since I didn't have much else to spend on.

I then started the same thing for Treasure Hunter, which I finished about a month ago. I ran 25 chests per day out of Boreal Station in NM, which is about as many lockpicks as I could afford to break. This took an average of about 40 minutes per day. The rest of my playtime I spent normally, including a bit of farming. So, I was easily able to spend 100k per week on 80 picks (which was actually more than I was breaking, but I saved the extras for use on double-lucky weekends). Again, it took forever (about 8-9 months) to get it done, but it didn't drive me nuts, and I maxed Unlucky well before I was done with TH.

The TH/Unlucky runs left me about 500k points short of Lucky, so I began running chests in the Zhengjo Temple on Shing Jea for 30-60 minutes per day. This was pretty much without cost, since my retention rate on those chests was 95% after completing the other titles. I finished up most of the points I needed, however, on Nine Rings during the 5th anniversary. That cost me perhaps 300K in tickets.

Now I'm still 3,100 ID short of Wisdom and trying to figure out the best way to finish that up without going nuts. (Not that I really need the title, since I now have 31 titles maxed, but I'm crazy enough that I can't let that title slide.) I'm sure there must be some fairly easy way to come up with around 20-25 unid a day without spending more than an hour and without breaking the bank. The vaettir or raptor farms might do the trick.

Wow; extra big thanks for all the details there.

I found that working on some of the titles together is better than working on just one at a time---I have not maxed luxon/kurzick (though I am almost to level 8 kurzick), while doing those areas I usually pick up a free key (equipment reqs or luxon totems) to add to my opened chest count (almost to 5 on that one)...lucky and unlucky happen when I play in the eye areas--more unlucky than lucky though--and always bring a pick or 2 so if I pass a chest I can open it (always grape, but I can sell those too)....
since you are working on finishing the max eye title, bring a few lockpicks along while you hit those last few areas--it will help towards lucky/treasure and possible wisdom (if you are lucky).
I know it will take me some time to finish those off, but I plug away at it, and have a few characters vanquishing cantha as well as a few doing the books for kurzick points (hm and young heroes books).
(my farthest character has 22 titles...still needs to vanquish eye, drink a bit more and eat a few more sweets...but dont have the cash for it, so it will happen when it happens)

good luck with it

Pretty useful information, going for the same title myself. Currently have 23 titles so far, about 1/3 of the way done vanquishing. Going to work on Tyria after this, which will put me at 26 titles with Legendary Vanquisher. I have about 450k so far. probably when I'm done I'm guessing I'll have around 700k or so? From there on I'll work on getting Luxon/Kurzick. Hopefully that will get me enough to max out the Sweet Tooth as well. With those 3 maxed I'll be at 29. As for the last title, not really sure what to get. Guess I'll worry about it when I get there lol.

Unless you have high lucky and hunter already 700k might get you 2-3k chests. Sweet alone is 800-1 mill.

For help with the sweet title, I"m farming pre-searing Nicholas who gives 5 gifts daily per account. You get honeycombs & jars of honey, plus alcohol and fireworks. You can sell what you are not going to use, which will give you funds for lockpicks. This of course requires a friend in pre to hold your item collections while you bring your character through and then recreate.

As for the Factions Kurzick/Luxon titles, I have maxed my Kurzick one by doing mainly Jade Quarry. I would get the z-combat on all characters that would be useful in JQ (zcombat gives 5k faction) and try to donate about 40k a day. On JQ z-combat day, i would get the basic level done and turn in then reacquire the quest. This is more fun than vanquishing by yourself, although vanq runs through Unwaking Waters gives a nice amount of faction for a half hour's work. The side benefit of Jade Quarry is Balthazar Faction to buy z-keys, which can be sold for gold to buy lockpicks.

This is a great way to earn sweets. It's how I plan on maxing sweets for my title character. Post-searing Nick is another way if you luck out with rock candy, the rest you can sell. One other thing to consider is the zaishen missions and bounties, every 60 copper + 10g is a creme brule. easy 3 points each time, you won't tear through it but it's a nice way to chip at it relatively cheaply.
